FY Khoo Lecturer

Dr Khoo Fun Yong is well recognised as the ‘Father’ of Radiology in Singapore. He was the first local radiologist to head the Department of Radiology, Singapore General Hospital. In those days, this encompassed diagnostic radiology and therapeutic radiology and nuclear medicine. During his long and illustrious career, he has trained numerous radiologists, many of whom have been or are in leadership positions today.

To honour Dr Khoo for his numerous achievements and the influence he had on radiology in Singapore, the Chapter of Radiologists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore (now known as the College of Radiologists, Singapore), in conjunction with the Singapore Radiological Society, decided to establish the F Y Khoo Lecture in 2004.

​​The lecture will be held annually and delivered during the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of the Singapore Radiological Society (SRS) and the College of Radiologists, Singapore (CRS).

The topic of the lecture should be professional, academic or scientific content related to Radiology. The lecturer should preferably be a prominent local member of the radiological community, although an overseas lecturer can be appointed once every 3 years. The overseas lecturer, if selected, should be from the faculty of the ASM for that year.

Lifetime Achievement Medal

▶  SRS and CRS members are eligible to nominate

This Medal aims to recognise the lifetime contributions made by distinguished members of the Singapore radiological community. The Medals are to be awarded during the Annual Scientific Meetings (ASM) of the Singapore Radiological Society (SRS) and the College of Radiologists Singapore (CRS).

The recipient(s) must be current or honorary members of SRS or CRS, or were active members during their time in practice. Additionally, the recipient(s) must have made significant contributions to Diagnostic Radiology, Radiation Oncology and/or Nuclear Medicine in Singapore in areas such as (but not limited to) service to CRS or SRS, public service, education, research, leadership or mentorship.

Honorary Member, Singapore Radiological Society

▶  SRS members are eligible to nominate

This is awarded to an individual, local or international, who has made significant and sustained contributions to our field. The criteria are:  

  1. A member of the Society who has been continuously a member for ten years or more, on attaining to the age of 65, may be elected to honorary membership if they are deemed to have made a significant contribution to the Radiology fields of Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Oncology.
  2. or an internationally recognised leader who is deemed to have made a significant contribution to Radiology fields of Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Oncology in Singapore.
Submit your considered candidates according to the above-mentioned guidelines by 31 May 2022 for the selection committee to make their final decisions.
